Outside of Your Match

  • Please wait in the Player Waiting Area (PWA) when not competing.
  • Your Sumobot must be powered off, except for testing that it works.
  • You may watch active matches from the PWA, but you can not interfere with those matches (e.g. grabbing controllers, Sumobots, the arena, or other participants).
  • You are encouraged to cheer for your fellow competitors, but no insults, slurs, or other unsporting behaviors, please.

Before Your Match

  • You'll move from the PWA to your assigned Arena.
  • You must demonstrate that your Sumobot functions correctly to the Referee before the first round begins.
  • If your Sumobot fails to function within one minute, the first round is declared a loss.
  • If issues persist into the second round, the second round is also a loss.
  • If both you and your opponents' Sumobots fail to function, further rulings will be made by the Tournament Organizer.

Rules In The Match

Starting Position:
Your Sumobot starts at the edge of the Arena, facing the center, and directly opposite of your opponent's Sumobot.

Match Start:
The Referee announces the start.
Don't move your Sumobot before the start—violations may lead to disqualification.

Player Interaction:
Control your Sumobot only through your controller.
No lifting, striking, or interfering with any Sumobot or the Arena.

Winning a Round:
Knock your opponent's Sumobot out of the Arena! A Sumobot is knocked out if any part touches outside the Arena.

Round Ending Conditions:
If one player's Sumobot remains functional, they Win!
If all Sumobots are disabled or knocked out, the round is a Draw!
After one minute in the round passes, the Referee calls the round. The Sumobot closest to the center Wins! But, if this is unclear, that round is a Draw!

Winning a Match:
The first player to win 2 rounds wins the match!

Round Robin:
If
3 rounds pass with no winner, the match ends in a draw.

Elimination:
If 3 rounds pass with no winner, Tiebreaker Starts go into effect. Both Sumobots start in the center of the arena, facing outward. All other rules remain in effect.
