The Online Regional Open Qualifier is a fully online competition — no travel required. Submit your project from home, school, or your team's workshop and join teams from across the region for a shot at advancing to the WRO Americas Open Championship.

✅ Who Can Participate

The Online Regional Open Qualifier is open to Future Innovators teams across all three age divisions (Elementary, Junior, and Senior). Teams do not need to be part of a specific school program to compete in this online event — any registered Future Innovators team is welcome to submit.

This is a fully online qualifier — teams participate entirely from their own location. There is no in-person event, no travel, and no physical venue.

The Online Regional Open Qualifier gives Future Innovators teams an accessible path to compete at the international level. Teams showcase their project-based robotics solutions tied to the current season theme, defend their work in a live judged Q&A, and compete for a spot at the WRO Americas Open Championship.

Future Innovators

The Online Regional Open Qualifier is currently only available for the Future Innovators category, which is uniquely suited to a fully online, submission-and-Q&A format.

Future Innovators

A project-based competition where students create their own innovative intelligent robotics solution relating to the current season theme. For the online qualifier, teams submit their presentation and report, then defend their project in a live video Q&A with judges.

General Rules (All Age Groups)

Elementary

Create innovative robotics solutions to real-world problems. Submit your presentation and report, then present your project to judges in a live video Q&A.

Ages 8–122–3 StudentsOnline SubmissionLive Q&A

Junior

Teams submit their project materials online and present their innovation, entrepreneurship, and problem-solving to judges in a scheduled live video Q&A session.

Senior

Advanced innovation projects with emphasis on entrepreneurial thinking and sophisticated technical solutions, submitted online and defended in a live video Q&A with judges.

📣 Other categories coming soon? — Only Future Innovators is eligible for the Online Regional Open Qualifier at this time, since the format centers on project materials and a live Q&A. RoboMission, Starter, and Sumobots require in-person competition on a physical field and are not part of the online qualifier.

Each participating team submits three things during the June 1–19 window. All three are required to be considered for advancement.

Live Q&A slots are booked on a first-come, first-served basis throughout the June 1–19 window. Teams that schedule early get their preferred time. Don't wait until the last week!
